Post-Operative Care Guide

Post-Operative Symptoms & Recovery

  • Mild bleeding, swelling, and pain are normal and usually improve within 14 days.
  • For the first 3 days, apply ice for 15 minutes with 30-minute intervals; switch to warm compresses after day 3.
  • Take medications as prescribed.

First Week After Surgery

  • Avoid aspirin, anticoagulants, herbal medicines, and supplements.
  • No alcohol, smoking, or irritating foods (caffeine, spicy food, seafood).

First Two Weeks After Surgery

  • Increase protein and high-dose vitamin C intake to promote wound healing.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise.
  • For wounds near joints (elbow, knee, etc.), minimize movement to prevent pulling on sutures.

Wound Care

  • The wound is covered with a waterproof dressing after surgery. Do not remove it.
  • If the dressing gets wet or falls off, change it immediately; if it stays dry, keep it on until your follow-up appointment.
  • Do not let the wound come into contact with water until it has healed.
  • Dressing change: Clean with saline → Apply ointment → Cover with gauze and waterproof dressing.

Signs of Infection

If you experience increased pain, expanding redness around the wound, pus, or increased bleeding, please contact the clinic immediately and send photos of the wound for evaluation.

Suture Removal & Scar Care

  • Face wounds: Sutures removed after 7 days
  • Body wounds: Sutures removed after 14 days
  • After suture removal, begin scar prevention: Apply scar gel or use silicone tape
